6th - 8th Grade
Overview
‘Middle school’ years can be the most socially challenging times in a child’s life. Parents want their child to be successful, to be provided a quality education, and to develop the skills for success in high school. Middle schools with 34 – 36 students in each class, with each teacher being assigned 160+ students each day, may not be the environment for success for your child. As a parent, you may not find the level of communication with the school to meet your expectations.
We offer an alternative for parents seeking a secure and smaller school in which each teacher knows their students and effectively communicates with parents about student progress. As we are pleased to welcome students to Kindergarten as they enter their educational years, we are pleased to continue our tradition of a caring and supportive environment for students in grades 6 – 8.
Through the expressed desires of our parent community to establish our school as a K-8, we have responded to the needs of our families. Our program is developing into an educational opportunity for students to have technology integrated into their daily work; staff members are examining how best to serve as a school focused on math and science instruction while extending students’ abilities in reading and writing. Social studies, including acquisition of the knowledge of geography and history, continues as a critical aspect of our instruction.
Students, depending on their grade level, will be provided opportunities to publish a school newspaper, produce the yearbook, learn the processes for story development and production of short video stories and ‘commercials’, as they learn about teamwork, planning, collaboration, and communication.
Our fabulous Science Teacher, Mrs. Hanan leads a Science Fair in the spring. Be on the lookout for information on the Scientific Method and how to participate!
Above all, our students will continue to be reinforced for using the 16 Life Skills that have been so much a part of our instructional and social fabric in the years prior. For students entering our program in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade, they will find a welcoming student body and a staff dedicated to their success as a ‘middle school’ student!
